Capriccio nr.1 is based on arpegio movement across all five strings. At the beginning, it can be tricky to make your brain think in five-string dimension. That’s why the goal of this Capriccio is to force the player to do so in almost every bar.

In 2020, I released a book of five warm-up exercises for the five-string violin. The idea was to create material that allows a comfortable transition from a four-string to a five-string instrument. Ever since, I've wanted to continue researching the possibilities of the five-string violin and creating more music for it. This Capriccio is another step in this direction!
